FURTHER AHEAD
Matter is not simply a passive surface onto which meaning is projected. Objects can act, generate relations and participate in processes of transformation. Their significance lies not only in what they represent, but in what they do - in what their presence, material qualities and interaction with the body can make possible.
From this perspective, transformation is relational. It does not reside entirely in the object or in the person, but emerges through the encounter between them. When worn, the artefact enters into a direct relationship with the body: it can alter how the body moves, feels and occupies space, while the body in turn activates and transforms the work. The boundaries between object and subject, inside and outside, begin to dissolve. The work becomes an extension of the body, and the body becomes part of the work.
You become one with the piece, and materialisation is part of this process. Material becomes experience, allowing what cannot always be contained or understood through thought alone to be physically experienced. The intangible acquires presence.
The artefact, then, is not simply a representation of an idea, nor merely a mediator between already separate realms. It can participate in creating the relationship itself. Through its presence, movement, physical, aesthetic and sensory qualities, it can generate new states, responses and possibilities. The encounter becomes both communicative and creative, bringing forth something new through the relationship itself.
In this sense, the artefact becomes a threshold where the human and the transcendent can enter into relation. It creates the conditions for encounters with what lies beyond the immediately visible, opening perception into a wider field.
The work is not simply something to look at or interpret, but something to enter, inhabit and experience - a material presence through which perception, transformation and connection can unfold.
Through exchanges with performers, musicians and other artists, each work is activated as a shared field, where presence, interaction and embodiment complete the piece.
